Sam Thangiah is a Professor/ Director, Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Lab at Slippery Rock University – Computer Science Department and he has been using the NAO Robot to read stories for K-1 students, interact with autistic children and develop implementation of AI methods in the robo. Due to the sensors and the capability of the robot to program with the API provided, Mr. Thangiah realized that NAO robot is the best tool for him.

What Mr. Thangiah students’ love about NAO robot, is the different tasks it can do with the sensors and the Java programming language transforming the way they learn into a fun an interactive class. The educational and social positive impact that Mr. Thangiah notices is the interest K-12 and post-secondary students have shown around robotics and artificial intelligence improving the interest in STEM fields. Regarding the impact in the community, the interest has grown in the district to get students exposed to technology and robotics and prepare them for future jobs around these topics.
